FACES

After completion of the rat fracture experiment, we first quantify callus maturity with micro-computed tomography and then callus strength with biomechanical testing. After testing, we also quantify the content of collagen and the concentration of collagen crosslinks. These additional measures provide insight into how the drug therapy is affecting the biomechanical properties of bone. Does lovastatin increase the size, the density, or the quality of the callus

Fracture Callus

Micro-computed tomographic image of fracture calluses shows that statin treatment closes the cortical gap to a greater extent than vehicle alone.
