Gabriel Sterling has over 15 years of experience in the field of computer networking, analysis, design and security. He has worked in both academics and industry. He completed his Bachelors in Philosophy, specializing in the Philosophy of Science and Mathematics, in 2001 from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. His varied experiences include teaching middle school mathematics and science, computer programming, computer design, and network security. From 1993-1994, while in high school, he worked as a programmer for a payroll accounting firm in Akron, Ohio. He worked at Bowling Green State University as a computer network technician (1994-1995). He worked as lead technical analyst for a local ISP in Toledo, Ohio until 1999. He taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade mathematics and science at Rosary Cathedral School from 2001-2002. He was the IT director for a door manufacturing firm in San Antonio, Texas, where he designed and implemented industrial inventory management software. He then accepted a position at the University of Texas Health Science Center, in the Department of Radiation Oncology, where he directed the IT program, including all network support, information systems security for HIPAA, and advanced Tele-Medicine using the NIH Cancer Disparities Research Program (CDRP) Telesynergy System. He currently is Systems Administrator for the Vanderbilt Center for Bone Biology, handling all information technology issues for the center, as well as designing technology solutions for both administrative and laboratory use. |
